The Secret of Inspiration

By The Road To: The Road Comments

I am an emotional person. I find myself crying from a romantic teen movie. Tears fill my eyes whenever I read a birthday card aloud to my loved ones. But nothing touches me more than observing an individual's achievements. It is the human ability to envisage a goal, work for its accomplishment and, through its outcome, touch and influence the lives and inclinations of others that makes me so emotional. I admire people who do amazing things and maybe that is why I believe so strongly in striving to reach the potential you believe you have.

It is often not exceptional talents that make a person create something big and influential but rather a dream or a vision together with inner drive, diligence, and assiduity. That is why the following quote from Steve Jobs captured my attention from the moment I first heard it. It touched that button within me that controls emotions:

"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use".

I'm inspired by the painstaking quest people pursue by themselves and the extreme self-motivation that keeps people going in search of their goal or vision. This is what stimulates my thoughts and motivation at the moment. You may be inspired by completely different behaviors and outcomes: a person’s ability to lead or to draw a crowd of believers; a person’s creativity and ability to create a piece of art; a person’s ability to be part of a group working towards a common goal; a person who dispels their fears and pushes themselves to extremes; a person overcoming a major disability or fighting illness. But, inspiration can also come from less heroic acts, from normal everyday doings:  a nice outfit which caught your eye, a movie you saw, a book you read, a magazine you skimmed, a word of wisdom you heard from a friend. It can come from people you know—family, friends, colleagues—or from people you have never met.  It can come from places far away from you either physically or spiritually yet which still trigger your curiosity and interest. You just need to be in an absorbing mode. No matter what pushes the button within you, inspiration is a major factor in our personal growth, driving humanity to new endeavors and heights. The greater role inspiration plays in our lives, the more happiness we will see around. And once you find that button inside you that makes you emotional and involved, you will find a level of strength and motivation that you never knew existed. By pursuing inspiration, all the while paying great attention to how this makes you feel, you may find that driving force which is a prerequisite for any woman looking to overcome the hurdles of the modern woman’s routine in search of her dream.

Share with us your button and what inspires you; others may find parallels in your experience that help to fire their own journey.
